In days gone by, horse sellers inserted peeled ginger into a nag’s rectum just before making a sale, the result of which was that the animal appeared far sprightlier than its years. This meant that the buyer assumed the horse to be far younger than it actually was and would pay a good price. Today, many a slave is “spiced” up by the same method …. it has to be said though, Mistress prefers her ginger in a curry or marmalade
